In 1952, Red Wing introduced the white, flat, cushioned Traction Tred sole to men's work and hunting boots for the first time, launching the 8-inch #877 boot. This boot was an instant success upon its release, and within a few years, various variations emerged, including the 6-inch #875 boot.
The boots feature a comfortable moccasin-style toe (Moc Toe) and a Traction Tred sole, providing ease of walking and lasting comfort. The high-quality leather and sturdy construction offer functionality and durability, making the #875 and #877 popular choices for American workers, representing iconic Red Wing boots.
Initially, the Oro-Russet leather used in the #875 had an orange-brown hue, but it gradually became more reddish in the 1990s. When the decision was made to return to the original color in the American market, a new leather called Oro Russet Portage was created with a strong reddish tint to cater to the Japanese market. This led to the introduction of #8875, a variation of #875, in Japan in 1996. Since then, the #8875 has remained a top-selling boot in Japan, symbolizing Red Wing's legacy.
About 6-INCH CLASSIC MOC IN ORO RUSSET LEATHERWhen the leather surface is dry, apply a thin layer of Mink Oil or All-Natural Leather Conditioner. After 30 minutes later, wiping off any excess oil with a dry cloth.
Oro Russet “Portage” leather has a light coating applied after dyeing, so you can enhance its shine by polishing it with cream. To cover scratches and add color while polishing, we suggest using "Boot Cream / Oro Russet," although "Boot Cream / Neutral (colorless)" can also be used. After applying a small amount of boot cream (about the size of a few coffee beans) to the entire surface, buff with a soft cloth or brush.
In addition, regular brushing is effective in preventing dirt and mold build-up on the boots. Use Red Wing Brush to effectively remove dust and debris.
