In 1952, Red Wing introduced the white, flat, cushioned Traction Tred sole to men's work and hunting boots for the first time, launching the 8-inch #877 boot. This boot was an instant success upon its release, and within a few years, various variations emerged, including the 6-inch #875 boot.
The boots feature a comfortable moccasin-style toe (Moc Toe) and a Traction Tred sole, providing ease of walking and lasting comfort. The high-quality leather and sturdy construction offer functionality and durability, making the #875 and #877 popular choices for American workers, representing iconic Red Wing boots.
Unlike other Classic Mocs, the #1907 uses the 45 Last specifically designed for the Moc Toe with a certain thickness in the bottom of the last to accommodate footbed insertion. The fit can also be adjusted using the included leather insole. The welt also employs a stand-up welt, giving the boots a bulky silhouette.
The Copper Rough & Tough leather is used for the #1907. It is a nubuck leather that is lightly rubbed on the leather surface and added with oil and wax, resulting in a unique unevenness and wrinkles during the finishing stage of the shoe. The boots made of this leather have a 2-tones look and feel start from the beginning.
About 6-Inch Classic MocCopper Rough & Tough leather is a unique leather that is processed by rubbing the silver surface to give it a distinct texture. The rubbed surface absorbs oil much better than an untreated surface, causing the leather to darken when oil care products are applied. Also, the wax content in care products would cover the surface and removes the leather's natural roughness. To maintain the leather's natural texture, it is recommended to apply a thin layer of Leather Cream instead of any oil-based care product.
Leather Cream is an emulsion cream blended with a small amount of oil and moisture but does not contain any wax content that is typically found in oil-based care products and emulsion creams. Therefore, it is ideal for moisturizing delicate leathers that are sensitive to oil.
After applying the cream, wait for the leather surface to dry and use a Brush to brush the leather surface evenly and restore its natural roughness.
The Rough & Tough leather is rich in oil and wax and does not require frequent maintenance. However, if you feel that the leather surface is getting dry, perform the above maintenance. In addition, regular brushing is effective in preventing dirt and mold build-up on the boots. Use Red Wing Brush to effectively remove dust and debris.
