In 1952, Red Wing introduced the white, flat, cushioned Traction Tred sole to men's work and hunting boots for the first time, launching the 8-inch #877 boot. This boot was an instant success upon its release, and within a few years, various variations emerged, including the 6-inch #875 boot.
The boots feature a comfortable moccasin-style toe (Moc Toe) and a Traction Tred sole, providing ease of walking and lasting comfort. The high-quality leather and sturdy construction offer functionality and durability, making the #875 and #877 popular choices for American workers, representing iconic Red Wing boots.
#8833 model is inspired by the #8173 design and features Hawthorne Abilene, a beige roughout leather that was initially conceived in Japan in 1989. Unlike typical suede leather, #8833 is created by thinly slicing the brushed side of the leather, this design utilizes the grain side (leather surface) on the inside, with the highest fibre density, and the raised side on the outside. In other words, the leather is turned inside out. Roughout leather is traditionally used for outdoor shoes, making these not only stylish but also durable lifestyle boots.
About Icon - Style 8833 CLASSIC MOC Men's 6-Inch Boot In Hawthorne AbileneMuleskinner leather is a roughout variety, and basic care involves using a rubber bar (similar to an eraser for removing dirt) and a brush (to raise the texture of the brushed leather), also known as a Roughout/Nubuck Cleaner Kit.
Although Muleskinner leather contains oil, it doesn't require frequent re-oiling. However, if the leather feels dry, dampen a cloth with leather cream and gently press it onto the leather, allowing the oil to seep in and moisturize the material. Applying oil to the brushed leather may take time, so patience is key.
In addition, regular brushing is effective in preventing dirt and mold build-up on the boots. Use Red Wing Brush to effectively remove dust and debris.
