In 1952, Red Wing introduced the white, flat, cushioned Traction Tred sole to men's work and hunting boots for the first time, launching the 8-inch #877 boot. This boot was an instant success upon its release, and within a few years, various variations emerged, including the 6-inch #875 boot.
The boots feature a comfortable moccasin-style toe (Moc Toe) and a Traction Tred sole, providing ease of walking and lasting comfort. The high-quality leather and sturdy construction offer functionality and durability, making the #875 and #877 popular choices for American workers, representing iconic Red Wing boots.
#8849 showcases the exquisite #875 leather, known as Black Prairie, which features a rich brown core encased in sumptuous black. The coating is more delicate than its counterpart, Black Klondike, lending a supple feel and allowing the leather's true character to shine. As this captivating leather is worn, the underlying brown hues emerge early on, gracing the wearer with a unique, evolving patina from the very first wear. Experience the living artistry of Black Prairie as it transforms and matures with each wear, offering a timeless expression of style and grace.
About 6-Inch Classic MocThe shoes crafted with Black Prairie leather feature a stunning full-grain, lightly coated surface that retains the natural, oiled texture of the leather. To maintain their beauty, treat them with the same care you would give to any oiled leather.
Frequent oil application is not necessary, but if the leather surface becomes dry over time, apply a thin layer of Mink Oil or All-Natural Leather Conditioner. After applying for about 30 minutes, it is recommended to wipe off the remaining oil on the surface of the leather with a dry cloth.
If you find the brown core of the leather becoming too prominent and wish to revive its original ebony allure, add depth and darkness with a touch of "Boot Cream / Black." The complementary hue will artfully restore the lustrous black shade, ensuring your shoes remain as captivating as ever.
In addition, regular brushing is effective in preventing dirt and mold build-up on the boots. Use Red Wing Brush to effectively remove dust and debris.
